COP26 was the 26th meeting of the Conference of Parties (the signatories to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change) which took place in Glasgow from 31 October until 12 November 2021.
The aim of COP is to stabilise greenhouse gas emissions, with a series of commitments that will keep any temperature rise at no more than 20C against the pre-industrial baseline.
The Hub supported a number of associated events in the North East and Yorkshire region, including 4 official ‘Battle Bus tour’ flagship events and an additional 10 ‘Regional Roadshows.’.
The North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub was also challenged to collect 125 ‘Carbon Stories’ to showcase the impressive carbon reduction work taking place across the region. We were the first Hub to meet our target, and you can find information on the carbon stories on the carbon copy website here.
In addition to the above events, the NEY Net Zero Hub administered a small grant scheme to support carbon reduction projects inspired by COP26.
