£75million of grant funding is available. Bids up to a maximum of £5million will be considered. There is no minimum bid.
The fund opens on Wednesday 7 April 2021. All projects that receive funding must be fully installed before 31 March 2022.
The fund is open to the same organisations who could bid in to the first round, including central government departments and their arm’s length bodies, emergency services, further and higher education institutions, local authorities, maintained schools within the state education system, including academies, multi-Academy Trusts and free schools, NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts.
Please get in touch if you would like to discuss Phase 2 of the fund. The Hub is here to support local energy delivery, for example through the OnGen programme which has provided local authorities with software and toolkits to assess the viability of decarbonisation projects.
This second phase is aimed at taking a ‘whole building’ approach to heat decarbonisation. Most of the buildings in the public sector still rely on fossil fuel-based heating and as these heating systems approach the end of their working lives it is an ideal opportunity to transition to low carbon heating.
To qualify, applicants must be using a fossil-fuelled heating system, and it should be coming to the end of its useful life. The fund is primarily for capital costs, although consultancy costs can be included. The fund can be used to cover a wide range of energy efficiency and renewable measures.
