Low Carbon Technologies

This session will review low carbon generation and storage and approaches to energy efficiency from the perspective of community organisations (considering both electricity and heat). Workshops will provide participants with and understanding of available and emerging low carbon technologies and workshopping participants project / ideas and discussing technology specific constraints, opportunities and development programmes.

Net Zero Project Planning and Development

12th September @ 09:30 – 13:00

This session will offer insights into net zero project development, focusing on defining need (energy, economics, environment) and the project development process / road mapping. This workshop will provide participants with an understanding of net zero policy, the process of energy and carbon baselining, energy strategy development, and will discuss participants’ project portfolios.

Commercial Case Development for Community Energy Projects

This session will cover commercial options relating to net zero and energy development. This workshop will guide participants through the process of business case development in line with the HM Treasury 5-case business plan format. It will demonstrate an example financial model for a community energy project, helping participants understand financial inputs and outputs, and how to use these tools to seek partners, funding and finance.

Governance and Procurement for Community Energy Projects

This session will introduce community governance models and detail the procurement process for low carbon projects. This workshop will provide participants with an understanding of governance models suitable for their objectives, legal requirements of energy projects and best practice in efficient, and sustainable procurement.
