Awards are for €60,000.
The current call for bids is from Friday 26 March to Monday 31 May 2021. A further two calls are planned.
The fund is open to local authorities.
Some 250 bids were received from across Europe in the first bidding round, including around a quarter from Nordic and Western European countries, so when considering the potential number of bidders, take-up is very low across England. If you are interested in being a trailblazer, we would be delighted to hear how you get on. If you are keen but resource is an issue, please get in touch to discuss how we could support you as a Hub.
The aim of the fund is to support local authorities as drivers of sustainable energy transition. With tremendous potential to build comprehensive sustainable energy investment programmes, local authorities also play a key role in pooling smaller projects into larger investment portfolios and in mobilising significant financial resources required for the energy transition.
The fund is designed to support the gap between developing and implementing ambitious climate and energy action plans. The EU City Facility supports local authorities to transform their climate and energy action plans into real investment in developing credible, robust and sufficiently mature investment concepts. The fund supports activities including the identification of potential project pipelines, legal analysis, governance analysis, basic financing strategy, and roadmaps for implementation, which are necessary to access different sources of funding.
