Four North East and Yorkshire local authorities are celebrating nominations at a government-backed award ceremony which recognises the contribution of local government in addressing local energy and heat needs while reducing carbon emissions.
Northumberland and Gateshead, North Yorkshire Council, and York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority have all been named finalists at the inaugural Association of Public Sector Excellence Energy Awards.
The awards will take place at APSE’s Big Energy Summit in Birmingham. Both the awards and the event are sponsored by the Local Net Zero Hubs, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s national network of local partnerships who support local authorities and the communities they serve to develop and deliver energy and heat projects.
Gateshead and Northumberland local authorities are nominated in the “Supporting Innovation” category, while York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority and North Yorkshire are given a joint nomination for Working In Collaboration.
The winning nominees will be announced on February 26th
